Fazaldad Human Rights Institute (FHRI) and Rice Partners (Pvt) Ltd in collaboration of Mars Food have started Entrepreneurial Skills Development Program in district Sheikhupura. The objective of the program is to address the lack of access to alternative sources of income for youth and transplanting families. It focuses on diversifying income for rice worker families (longer-term). Initially 11 boys from rice working families have been enrolled in the course “Rice Milling & Processing Plant Operator” at Government Technical Training Centre for Rice Milling and Processing, Muridke, Sheikhupura. The said course will provide good job opportunities in the rice industry of Pakistan. Besides, the enrollment of girls is in process and 70 girls will be enrolled in the courses like modern embroidery, beautician and tailoring. These courses have good market demand and they can helpful to girls in providing better incomes.
